I know I shouldn't find this so funny but I do, I really really do.
The eBay listing states:
"Medi-Disc, 1960s. "Drugs Won't Get It, People Will: An Educational Record About Narcotic Addiction" features four ex-addicts "rapping" about addiction and recovery at Gaudenzia House. Sticker on front says "Compliments of Donald O. Oesterling, State Senator, 21st District," along with a stamp that says roughly the same thing. I find it fascinating and baffling that the record was donated by United Mine Workers of America. Were Pennsylvania miners particularly susceptible to drug addiction?"
Yes, that's right.. "four ex-addicts "rapping" about addiction and recovery".. I have met quite a few current and ex-addicts wandering the streets of our fair city, usually either coming out of or going into a drug rehab centre (and by met them, I mean tried to avoid them.. They tend to be quite violent if they decide you have looked at them the wrong way around here..) and I have yet to meet one that can speak clearly at a slow pace let alone trying to spit out lyrics in a "phat stylie" (I can't believe I just said that..) so the idea of someone putting them on vinyl and releasing it seems ridiculous until you see that there was a senator behind it all.
